I am researching my great-grandmother, Sophronia Eudora PARKER, born 1857 in Mitchell County. She was the daughter of Garrett PARKER and Sarah HAYES. 1870 Census shows Garrett PARKER, age 42 living in Albany, Baker County, Sophronia married William Henry LASSETER about 1877. They lived in Decatur Co, Lowndes Co., and later moved to Dallas, TX. Garrett PARKER lived near Camilla, was a landowner, harvested and milled lumber. He was also a minister and built a church with wood from his mill. The church burned down and was replaced by a brick structure and may still exist. Any information would be appreciated.

Burton

Bob Burton ..Mar 14,1998
Pleasant C. T. BURTON, my gg grandfather, claimed on his Confederate soldier pension application that he was born in Baker Co, GA in 1834. His father was Tannington BURTON. In 1821, Tannington BURTON won a land lot, while living in Burke Co, GA. In 1825, while still living in Burke Co, GA, Tannington BURTON sold the land lot. Somehow, the BURTONs are in Baker Co, GA in 1834, where Pleasant was born. The next thing I find is Pleasant C. T. BURTON in the 1850 census of Montgomery Co, GA, as a 16 year old farm laborer for John and Mary FERGUSON. Per Montgomery Co, GA probate records, Tannington BURTON died before January 1852 and his estate left $83.00 to a Mr. John PHILLIPS, who had been appointed guardian of P. C. T. BURTON in May 1851. I do not know where Tannington BURTON died or where his estate was probated. In March of 1853, Pleasant C. T. BURTON married Susan, the youngest daughter of John and Mary FERGUSON. QUESTION: Who is Tannington BURTON related to and what are the facts concerning his travels from Burke Co to Baker Co and then his son to return to Montgomery Co? Is there any connection to the William H. FERGUSON (b. 1800-1810), who was an official of Baker Co, GA and was killed by Indians on 12/16/1835. Please let me hear from you if you have any information that relates to the BURTONs or FERGUSONs. Bob Burton, rburton904@aol.com.
