All rights reserved. http://www.genrecords.net/alpike/ ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb by: Patsy McCoy pmccoy@pacifier.com May 2003 Milton, Florida Gazette, January 30, 1923, Page 1) DEATH OF PHILIP FAULK Mr. Philip Faulk passed away to his long waiting home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after a long illness, from which his death was not unexpected. He had been suffering for about thirteen months from cancer in his mouth, and for the past two months he had been confined to his bed, helpless. Philip Faulk was born at Troy, Ala., in 1839, later moving to Santa Rosa county. He fought in the Civil War on the Northern side, and after the war he married to Miss Francis Cair, settling on Yellow River near what is known as Faulk's Ferry. He lived there for a number of years, then moved further up the river where he spent the rest of his life. Mr. Faulk leaves five children to mourn his death: Mrs. M Fortune of Milton, P H Faulk of Harold, Mrs. J. D. Broxson of Harold, Mrs. J. R. Broxson of Harold and Miss Rosie Faulk of Harold, and a number of grandchildren and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, conducted by Prof. Allen Fortune, and was laid to rest in Yellow River cemetery Saturday afternoon. from the Milton Gazette, January 30, 1923, Page 1) **Note** The Miss Francis Cair is a misprint and should have been Crain. Her maiden name was Sarah Frances Crain daughter of William Crain and Sarah Frances Grimes.
