Uncle Jimmie Thompson Dead.

One of the best men of the county, uncle Jimmie Thompson died at his home 
near Spring Hill Saturday night. He had long suffered with a cancer and last
year thought he was cured by a treatment received in Georgia. Later it broke 
out again and finally caused his death. A good man is gone to his reward.

James R. Thompson was born 13 Jan. 1828 North Carolina, the son of Stephen and 
Penelope Thompson. The Thompsons moved to Pike County in the late 1830's. James 
married 1 March 1849 Pike County to Mary C. Lassiter, having two daughters: 
Malissia and Bernice Jane Thompson. He died 5 October 1895, being buried at 
the Union Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Spring Hill, Alabama.
