"John Phillips Dickinson [born NC 1802]-- p. 392: "J.P. Dickinson joined the Methodist Church in 1819, when about seventeen. He gave fifty-one years in the service of our Christ, [first] as an exhorter, and then as a local and [finally and primarily] an itinerant minister. For many years his service was in the Georgia Conference, transferring to the Alabama in 1857.
