Pike County To any Ordained or Licensed Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Circuit or County Courts, or Justice of Peace for said county= = = GREETINGS: Now are hearby authorized to celebrate the Rites of Matrimony between Elijah Fortune and Mary Boutwell and this shall be your sufficient authority for so doing. The above named parties Were married by me the 25th day of January A. D. 1861 A. J. Mize J. P. Given under my hand and seal, this 25th day of January A. D. 1861 and of American Independence the -------------- (blank) Year Bird Fitzpatrick The State of Alabama, Pike County Know All Men by these Present, That we Elijah Fortune & J. M. Fortune Are held and firmly bound unto the State of Alabama, in the penal sum of two hundred Dollars; for payment of which, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by those present. Sealed with our seals, and dated the 25th day of January A. D. one thousand eight hundred and Sixty One. The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That if there be no lawful cause why Elijah Fortune and Mary Boutwell should not be joined together in the holy union of matrimony, then this obligation to be void; otherwise, to remain in full force and virtue.
