N. Worthy, Editor Troy Ala. 7 Dec. 1859 Departed this life, on the night of the 20th of November, Mrs. Kesiah Williams, in the 79th year of her age. Mother Williams removed to this county from South Carolina in the year 1819, and has been a citizen of this county ever since. She leaves to mourn her loss 114 living children, grand-children and great grand-children, the most of whom lived in this vicinity, besides many, many friends who sat around her bed day after day and night after night, watching her with anxious eyes through a protracted illness of nearly four weeks. But alas! the monster death came and severed the brittle thread---she is no more. While deploring her death, all who knew her have the sweet consolation to know that she lived a pious life and bore her last illness with Christian foritude, she never murmuring but always acquiescing in the dispensations of Providence. How sweet is to know, in the hour of death, that the angels of God stand ready to receive our spirits and bear them aloft to realms of eternal bliss. A short poem follows. Additional Comments: I have written as this appeared in the newspaper. I have many surnames that are on her inventory of estate, her son E. Y. Williams was exec: this was wife of James Williams in all the estate, settlement records, census records, Because of difference in transcription of the original name and the letter 'z' could have appeared as 's'. In the 1850 census her daughters name was clearly Keziah wife of Thomas Urquhart. I can't find where in SC this family came from to Al. in 1819 or a maiden name for Kesiah Williams. The family was in the 1830-40-50-60-70 census records. Kesiah and James Williams grandson was Rev. John Lafayette Williams b. near Mont./ Pike Co. Al. was a Methodist (E) minister over 30 years in N. Fl. and S. GA. he went to Fl. along with 2 siblings, several cousins in 1854. His parents John Allen Williams and Catharine URQUHART married in Mont. Co. Al. 1826 they are #901 of the 1850 Census Pike Co. Al. Please email me if you might be able to help me get back to SC or know where in SC this family came from? kindness karen
