From Friday, September 4th. The body of Steve Thompson, formerly of Milo, was brought in this morning on Coast Line train 57, from Waycross, Ga., where he died of malarial fever. Mr. Thompson has been in the employ of the Coast Line for about two years, on bridge work, we learn. It is stated that he was here only a short time ago, but on returning to his work, he was taken with malarial fever and had to go to the hospital of the Coast Line at Waycross, where he succumbed. He leaves a wife to mourn his loss. Mrs. Thompson went to Waycross and accompanied the body here this morning. The remains were carried to Milo cemetery, where the interment took place. Mr. Thompson's demise is regretted by his many friends. ***Notes*** Stephen A. Thompson was born 17 August 1859 Pike County, Alabama, the son of Jesse Bryant Thompson and Mary Smith, paternal grandson of Stephen and Penelope Thompson, and maternal grandson of Isaac and Elizabeth Smith. Stephen A. Thompson married Emma T. Flowers.
