Jeff Smith Dies After Short Illness

Jeff Smith, 78, of Troy, Route 2, died at his home Tuesday morning 
after a brief illness. Survived by widow, Mrs. Ionia Boutwell Smith, 
of Troy, Route 2; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Allgood, of Grand Ridge, Fla.; 
Mrs. Irene McDermont, of Columbus, GA., and Mrs. Eddie B. Harrison, of 
Troy, Route 2; one son, Eugene Smith, of Jack, Route 1; two brothers, Lum Smith, 
of Brundidge, and Frank Smith, of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, 
Mrs. Lillie Senn, of Brundidge; Mrs. Lizzie Ashberry, of Jack, Route 1, 
and Mrs. Lon Fortune, of Troy, Route 2; eighteen grand- and six great-grandchildren, 
and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Center 
Ridge Church with Rev. M.S. Spivey, of Spring Hill, officiating. Burial will 
be in church cemetery with McGehee Funeral Home directing.

Note: Jeff F. Smith born 11 Oct.1868 Pike Co, AL, died 7 Jan. 1947, son of 
Stephen S. Smith and Harriet Elizabeth Sellers, and grandson of Bryant Smith 
and Nancy Thompson, and great grandson of Stephen and Penny Thompson. Jeff 
first married in 1891 to Nancy Wilson, and second marriage in 1913 to Ionia Boutwell.
