James Cleveland Fortune
James Cleveland Fortune, age 69, of Fort Walton Beach Fla., 
passed away Monday evening, June 14, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Fortune was born on March 25, 1930, in Milton, Fla., to 
Lydia Elizabeth Fortune and the late Thomas Jefferson Fortune. 
He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict, then 
retired from the City of Fort Walton Beach Street Department.
Mr. Fortune is survived by his wife Glenda Scroggins Fortune of 
Fort Walton Beach; daughter Glenda Kay Fortune Kaufman and 
husband Joseph of Baker, Fla.; son Joel Dewayne Fortune and 
wife Deborah Ann of Baker; grandson, James Daniel Thomason and 
wife Joanna of Holt, Fla.; granddaughter, Shannon Rose Thomason 
and fiance Garvin Gunter, both of Fort Walton Beach; grandson, 
Shane M. Fortune of Baker; grandson Shiloh B. Fortune of Baker; 
granddaughter, Rachel A. Fortune of Baker; grandson, Joseph John Kaufman Jr. of Baker; 
granddaughter, Amanda N. Fortune of Baker; 
great-grandson, William Garvin Gunter II of Fort Walton Beach; 
great-granddaughter, Trinity Elizabeth Thomason of Holt; 
Mother, Lydia Elizabeth Fortune of Crestview, Fla.; 
brother, Ralph Fortune and wife Jessie Pearl of Fort Walton Beach; 
sister, Ruth Bills of Holt; and sister, Naomi Hershberger and 
husband Bob of Boswell, Pa.
Funeral services will be conducted a 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at 
Emeral Coast Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. James Kennedy and 
Jack Webster officiating. Interment will follow in Wright Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Flowers will be accepted, but those who wish may make donations to 
Hospice of Northwest Florida, 490 Highway 85 North, Suite C Niceville, Fl. 32578, 
in memory of Mr. James Fortune.
Emeral Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road N. E. , Fort Walton Beach, 
is in charge of arrangements.
