THOMPSON DIES; BURIAL AT SPRING HILL. Asa W. Thompson, 83, died Friday at 11:30 p.m. after a short illness at his home in Spring Hill. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Baptist Church and a charter member of the Spring Hill Masonic lodge. He was one of Pike County's most prominent planters and financiers. Mr. Thompson was born March 10, 1851 and lived in the Spring Hill community all his life. In 1879 he was married to Miss Theodosia Stubbs, by whom he is survived, with the following children: J.P. Thompson of Hartford; Ira Thompson, Ara W. Thompson, Deal Thompson and several grandchildren who mourn his death. The funeral was held from the home at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Dr. J.O. Colley assisted by Rev. Eddie Johnson officiating. The Masons were in charge of the sad rites at the grave. The Rhodes Funeral Home in charge. Rhodes, John M. Sanders, Dr. W.B. Sanders, J.E. Stinson, Robert Tyner, Rufus Wilson. Note: Asa Washington Thompson was born 10 Mar.1851 Pike Co, AL; died 6 Apr.1934, son of Asa Thompson and Elizabeth Carpenter, grandson of Stephen and Penny Thompson, and Benjamin Carpenter. Asa W. Thompson was married 27 Mar.1879 Pike Co, AL to Theodosia Stubbs.
