All rights reserved. http://www.genrecords.net/alpike/ ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb by: Patsy McCoy pmccoy@pacifier.com April 21, 2004 Troy Messenger Unidentified Man Dead Near Ozark From Pneumonia Ozark, Ala., March 30 Mystery surrounded the death Saturday at the home of Lee Peters, north of Ozark, of s white farm laborer who came to that section two weeks ago, asked for work, refused to give his name and said "that doesn't matter and it's my business" He died of pneumonia. Described as about 45 years old, weighing 150 pounds, blue eyes, and with two middle fingers on his left hand missing, the man was earning his board and a few dollars a week working for Peters. He was wearing a blue suit with a small white stripe when he came to the farm and had a few clothes tied in a bag. Officers said the man appeared in this section shortly after a certain chaingang break occured in Georgia and they are investigating that angle. Among other things was found a letter dated Feb. 10 from a woman in Blackshear, Ga., signed "Mary Jane" and contents of the letter indacate that the woman might be a sister.
