All rights reserved. http://www.genrecords.net/alpike/ ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb by: Patsy McCoy pmccoy@pacifier.com July 12, 2003, 8:44 am section twenty nine, Township nine, of Range twenty one Written: December 21 1859 Recorded: March 31 1860 324 The State of Alabama Pike County Known all men by these presents that we Richard and Mosley Fortune wife of said Richard Fortune for and in consideration of Nine Hundred Dollars, to me in hand paid by Rebecca Dorman, the receipt whereof we do herby acknowledge, to hereby grant, bargain, sell, signoff and con----- unto the said Rebecca Dorman her hairs and assignees, the following described land, ---- The SE ¼ of NW ¼, NE ¼ of SW ¼, SE ¼ of SW ¼, the SW ¼ of SE ¼, NE ¼ of SE ¼ of section twenty nine, Township nine, of Range twenty one. Subject to sale Elba, Ala containing Two hundred acres, more or less. To have and hold the aforesaid premises, to the paid Rebecca Dorman her heirs and assignees to their we and behold forever, and that we do consign with the said Rebecca Dorman her heirs and assignees that we are assured in fee of the afore granted premises; that they are free from all encumbrances; that we have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said Rebecca Dorman her heirs and assignees; and that we can warrant and demand the premises to the said Rebecca Dorman heirs and assignees forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons. In witness whereof we the said Richard and Mosley Fortune in of Richard Fortune have ------- set our hands and seal on the 21st day of December A.D. 1859 Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of: Richard Fortune Mosley Fortune (X for her mark) George W. Grissett Benjamin Dorman] The State of Alabama Pike County I Bird Fitzpatrick judge of the court of Pike County Probate in and for the State and County afore herby certify, that George W. Grissett a subscribing witness to foregoing conveyance, known to us appear before on this day and being sworn stated that Richard Fortune and Mosley Fortune the grantor in the conveyance, voluntarily executed the same in his presence, and in the presences of the other subscribed on the day the same bears date that he attest the same in the presence of the grantor and of other witness and that such other witness subscribed his name as a witness in his presence.
