AL Wills Written: March 10 1860 James Shirley Will & Conveyances The State of Alabama Pike County Know all men by these present that I James Shirley for and in consideration of the parental affection I have for my son Hamilton D. Shirley, do give and grant unto the lawful hires of the body of the said Hamilton D. Shirley that now are, and that may hereafter be born unto him, a certain negro boy named Randal, now about eighteen years old. Nor do I give the said negro to the said hires as an advancement of any part of my estate toward their father, H.D. Shirleys share of the same as one of my hairs at law, nor do I consider the lands I have hereto fore given and deeded to the heirs of my son Hamilton D. Shirley, as any advancement of his or towards his part of my estate, But I have given and do herein so assert the gifts by saying further, that, besides the more than ordinary parental affection, I have for my son Hamilton D. Shirley, I give and grant the same for other considerations ---- those of very near, dear ------- services , of great importance and value to me. In witness of which I hereinto subscribe my name as affix my seal in the presence of the subscribing witnesses, this March 10th A.D. 1860 Attest: G.D. Hightower James Shirley ( X his mark) T.A. Walters State of Alabama Pike County Know all men by these presents that I James Shirley do herby appoint my son Hamilton D. Shirley the guardian of the heirs, of Hamilton D, Shirley, to keep and use to and for the benefits of said heirs all of property I have conveyed to them, or if the said Hamilton D. Shirley whom I have herein appointed, their lawful guardian shall at any time think proper to sale of dispose of any part or all, of the said conveyance, or conveyances for the use and benefits of said heirs, I do hereby authorize and in power him to do so.
