William Burgess , b 1798 , SC  married 
 Clarinda Loveworth Knight on February 18, 1826.They
lived in Shady Grove. William and Clarinda left Shady
Grove in 1829 and went to Texas.They were back in
Shady Grove by 1833 where they lived out their lives. 
There were 12 children :
 Julia Ann Burgess, born 1828 , married Robert A
Redmon on Dec 19, 1844. Julia was deceased by 1866.

 William M. Burgess, born 1831 married Sarah Lucinda
Hufham on March 7, 1853. William died in 1862 in the
Civil War leaving 5 children.

 Rebecca Burgess, born 1828 married James Chesser on
March 1, 1853.

 Francis Burgess , born 1834, married Jacob Sanders.

 James Burgess, born 1836, married Mary "Polly"
Wingard in 1854. Died in 1866, no children

 Tabitha Burgess, born 1837, married Alexander May on
November 2, 1854. Tabitha died shortly after the
marriage. No children

 Malinda Burgess, born 1839 married John Blair on
September 16, 1855. 4 children

 Richard Burgess, born August 5, 1840 married
Catherine Oliver  on November 24, 1859.

 Esquire H. Burgess, born 1842 married the widow of
his brother William, Sarah Lucinda Burgess. They are
the parents of 7 children, in addition to raising the
5 from Sarah Lucinda's first marriage to his brother.

 Amanda Burgess , born 1844 married John B Parsons.

 Missouri Burgess, born 1845 married John Davis on
November 17, 1859. 

 Josephine Burgess , born 1851 married Judson Cary
McClendon.  

    (I have some information on the children of these
marriages but I am going to continue with my direct
line.)

 Of the marriage of Richard Burgess to Catherine
Oliver were born 8 children.

   William Henry Burgess born Oct 7, 1860
   Seba Sidney Burgess born September 7 , 1865
   Mary Louise Burgess born December 31, 1871
   Florence Cora Burgess born August 27, 1875
   James Oliver Burgess born November 22, 1877
   Roland Oscar Burgess born June 18, 1880
   Harvey Beagom Burgess born October 5, 1882
 
    (At some point, Ricahrd and Catherine Burgess
moved to Escambia County , Albama and raised the
family there. )
 
 Mary Louise Burgess married Thomas Joseph Dower on
September 20, 1891 in Brewton, Alabama. 4 children:
   Mary Ellen Dower born 1894 who married Gottfried
Singelmann. 1 son, George L. Singelmann
   Kathleen Heffernon Dower born 1896 who married John
Henry Hall  in 1911   and then Walter Howard Wainright
in 1921. I daughter Ruth Hall Wainright.

  Lawrence Patrick Dower born 1898, died 1908
  Thomas Joseph Dower born 1900 married Pauline Escat
and moved to Whittier, California. 4 children

 Mary Louise Burgess Dower then married Commander
Thomas C Odderstol, USCG in New Orleans, LA in 1909.
MAry Louise Burgess Dower Odderstol died on September
16, 1918. She is buried in  Brewton, Albama
