THOMPSON FAMILY BIBLE

of Pike County, Alabama

The Thompson Family Bible was started by Jesse Bryant Thompson and Mary Smith. Jesse B. Thompson, son of Stephen and Penelope Thompson, died 29 Aug. 1862 in Knoxville, Tennessee, during the War Between the States. Mary Smith is the daughter of Isaac Smith and Elizabeth Turner. After Jesse died Mary Smith Thompson married Holly Boutwell, continuing the Bible information. Mary Smith Thompson Boutwell died on 2 July 1915, and buried at the Spring Hill Cemetery, Pike County, Alabama. This Bible was published by Alden, Beardsley & Co., 1851. Granddaughter Mary Madgalene "Lena" Helms started collecting family history and stories in 1900, and was given this Bible when grandmother Mary died in 1915. Lena gave her research, pictures and Bibles to her daughter Joyce Helms Carpenter.

Isaac Boutwell was born Sept.15, 1868.
Mary Elender Boutwell a daughter to Holly Boutwell and Mary Boutwell was born March the
2,1872.
Lethy_____ was born March the 24,1876.
James _____Boutwell was born August the 3 AD 1881

Marriages:
Jesse B. Thompson and Mary Smith was married November 18, 1858
Holly Bouthwell and Mary Thompson were married on the 24 February, 1867
Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Jesse B. And Mary Thompson married W.J.Wilson
November 10,1881
Lena Wilson daughter of W.J. and Elizabeth Wilson, and W.A.A. Helms were married
October 12, 1919
Deaths:
Stephen Thompson died January the 31, 1862 near 90 years old (this is Jesse B.s father)
Jesse Bryant Thompson died August 29th, 1862, aged about 31 years old.
Holly Boutwell belonged to Capt.A.R. Loves Co.H., Jef Davis Legion, Youngs Brigade, Buttlers
Division, Hampstons ___ and General R.E. Lees Army, volunteered.
S.G. Thompson died in the hospital of the ACLRR Sept 3, 1903 aged 44 years 16 days, was
buried at Springhill, he was the son of J.B.Thompson & Mary Boutwell his wife.
